The Writing Clinic

Welcome to the Writing Clinic. We aim to support colleagues in the Language Centre and the School with their writing, and publication activities.  The writing clinic is also an opportunity for us to explore the reviewing process, the criteria used to evaluate publications, and the more personal aspect of reviewing and being reviewed. 

The Clinic consists of 8 members: Caroline Campbell, Laura Dyer, Millie Walkova, Thuy Thai, Charles Lam, Olive Nabukeera, Laetitia Monbec and Alba Del Pozo García.  

Aims

  1. provide support to colleagues’ writing endeavours across the LC and the School, specifically those on scholarship contracts.   
  2. develop knowledge and skills related to the writing and publishing process. 
  3. explore and develop expertise and skills in reviewing and in receiving feedback.  

Activities

  • Provide collegial feedback on your writing in progress. 
  • Provide constructive review on your pre-submission articles.
  • Run workshops on writing-related matters such as Exploring barriers to scholarship and publication;Selecting suitable dissemination avenues and types (and avoiding predatory practices); Surviving the peer review process. 
  • Compilation of resources such as a list of journals, blogs on the publishing process, resources on peer review, and analysis of the academic publishing field/industry.
  • Writing Retreats
