CELT Scholarship Lunch - March 2023

Are you aware of the work of the Committee for Foreign Language Assistants in Yorkshire (FLAC)? Do you know that LC/S have been supporting this excellent initiative since the 1920s? Come to our next scholarship meeting to learn more about FLAC and how our School and the Language Centre have been involved in their work.

This CELT session has a different flavour to the previous ones. It is more of a social event - with nibbles included - where you will have an opportunity to meet and find out how the LCS and LC support foreign language assistants in Yorkshire. The University has been involved in this initiative since the 1920s. It is a unique initiative in the UK. Its success is due to the ‘Committee for Foreign Language Assistants in Yorkshire’ whose members consist of volunteers from LCS, LC, retired language teachers from local schools and members from the local community who have a connection with modern languages. It will be a great opportunity to meet the French, German and Spanish language assistants from around the world and hear about their experiences of teaching in Yorkshire schools and the role the LSC and LC play to enhance their experience, in a relaxed and friendly environment.
